Dr. Kestenbaum graduated in 1980 from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from the New York State University at Albany. He was raised in Plainview and returned in 1984 to serve his community. Dr. Kestenbaum practices the "medical model" of optometry using sophisticated computerized equipment and analytical techniques to provide the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of eye disease. He is known for his specialty in fitting contact lenses to patients who are hard-to-fit using the latest contact lens technology. Using many new and exciting innovations, Dr. Kestenbaum welcomes those who may have failed with contact lenses in the past.

Dr. Michelle Zalaznick graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 1979. She is a well respected eyecare professional who has been living and practicing optometry in Plainview for over 27 years. Dr. Zalaznick is an active member of the Nassau County Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Zalaznick is available for eye examinations and contact lens fittings.
Dr. Todd H. Lustig received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Emory University in 1991. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry in 1995. Dr. Lustig served his externship at the VA Hospital in Northport, Long Island , NY . Dr. Lustig is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Nassau County Optometric Association. He is Board Certified to use all diagnostic and therapeutic agents to diagnose and treat eye problems, including eyeglasses, contact lenses and eye medications. He looks forward to serving your eyecare needs.

Judy Kestenbaum is a licensed New York State Ophthalmic Dispenser with a Masters Degree in Special Education from Adelphi University. She is a Fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry and is certified by the American Board of Opticians. Judy is also certified by the National Contact Lens Examiners for fitting and dispensing of contact lenses. Judy is the backbone of this office, taking pride in assuring the efficiency and integrity for which we are known.

Cathy Brandwein has been a welcome member of our staff since May, 2007.Always with a smile on her face, Cathy is here to help you with all your eyecare needs.She is responsible for training our new contact lens wearers and oversees all contact lens ordering at Optix.With over 20 years experience, Cathy has worked for both optometry and ophthalmology offices.Her two teenage children often help Cathy organize our business office.Our staff is very pleased that Cathy has chosen to become part of our Optix family.
Jan Axelrod is a New York State Licensed Ophthalmic Dispenser (Optician). Jan joined OPTIX in November 2003 as our lab manager. He is responsible for day-to-day operations along with the selection, manufacture, and dispensing of all eyeglasses. In the field for over 25 years, Jan brings a very high level of optical and technical expertise to our practice.

Gilma Mejia is a vital part of office operations. Gilma is responsible for pre-testing patients for the doctors, visual field examinations, telephone triage, frame styling and lens ordering and tracking for most vision plans. She is fluent in Spanish adding a very welcome dimension to our staff.

Eileen Rosen has been our office manager since 1987. She is very knowledgeable in all areas and can help with any special needs. As one of our frame stylists, Eileen is responsible for the unique and diversified selection of eyewear we offer at Optix.
