Protect Your Children's Eyes Today! Contact Pediatric Eye Doctor For Expert Advice And Guidance.

Your Children's Eyes are important.  The Optometrists at Optix take special care while examining children’s eyes.  They know that 80% of learning comes through the eyes and annual eye exams are an important part of your child’s health. Every month we hear the same story from parents about a child who "isn't good at sports" or who is "having a problem in school", and it turns out they had poor vision and didn't know it.  It gives us  satisfaction when we hear stories from parents about how their child now hits the ball at their baseball games, or started to participate in class.

We participate with VSP, Eyemed & Davis Vision plans just to name a few. Most of these plans will entitle you to an eye health exam every year even if vision correction such as glasses or contact lenses isn’t needed. If vision correction is needed, the typical savings is 40%-70%. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about Optix and your child’s vision:

Q: Should my child’s eyes be examined even if they don’t have any complaints?
A: Yes, children don’t know if they’re not seeing correctly. They think that everybody sees like them. Over the past 25 years Optix has focused on treating the eye health and vision of the whole family.

Q: Do you have a good selection of Children's frames?
A:  Yes, we have created and expanded our children's eyewear section to include over 150 styles and colors for both boys and girls.  When your child grows, we also have choices of many frames for those in-between years.  We focus our selection not only on the style of the frames but also the durability and safety of the frame.  Our kid’s eyeglass selection includes brands such as Nike, Disney, X-Games, and Flexon which are a combination of style and flexible material.  That means if your child is rough of his or her glasses they will hold up under wear-and-tear.

Q: My child is 3, should I bring him in for a Pediatric Eye Exam?

A: Your child should have his first eye exam at age 3.  That is the age that our eye doctors will start seeing patients.

Q: My child is starting Kindergarten. Should he have an exam before he starts?
A: Absolutely, your child should have their eyes examined by age 3.  Proper vision is especially important for learning in school.
